It’s not a new concept in fantasy or in romance, though, the whole “mate chosen by some outside force”. It’s a good trope to throw a couple of disparate people together and make them figure out how to get to that happily ever after. The key, though, is that it can work as a story device between two ADULTS.
What’s weird is that here, it’s between a baby and a man. That’s just…kinda oogy.
